“EMERGINNG DESIGNER”
Elizabeth Francis is a fashion designer and owner of the Christique Clothing brand from Trinidad and Tobago whose love for designing led her to switch from a career in Architecture to Fashion. Despite disapproval from her parents, Elizabeth became the owner Manager of Christique Styles by Liz where she developed quite a formidable clientele and reputation for herself in the fashion industry. After many years and challenges, Elizabeth finally achieved her dream of becoming formally educated as a fashion designer through the establishment of the Caribbean Academy of Fashion Design in Trinidad and Tobago where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts in (BFA) 2019. Although this achievement came in her mature years, Elizabeth admits that she is still determined to become one of the leading Caribbean Design Houses particularly in the area of Bridal and Resort Wear.
She believes that this achievement, coupled with her knowledge garnered over the last six years and her experience in the industry puts her in a good position to expand her business in the years to come. Elizabeth prides herself in also having an ethical aesthetic, producing collections mostly in Organic Cotton and Natural Fibers.
Elizabeth’s work has been featured in The Sunday Express, Her weekly Magazine, Fashion Passion and other platforms. She has also received invitations that have allowed her to participate in shows such as CARIFESTA 2019, the Artistix Fashion Show, the Fashion TT Pop Up Shop at the Hilton and the Things TT Pop Up event.
Elizabeth is presently part of the VCIP 2020 Business training cohort run by FashionTT and NEDCO and is also preparing a business plan to expand her business to include a retail showroom as well as a production facility that will be extended to new designers.
